ASCO Legal is proudly local legal firm with vast international experience, dedicated to ensuring our clients feel valued and respected. We are a diverse team with foundations in China, England, South Africa and New Zealand. We’re happy to work in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable and we strive to find the balance between professionalism and approachability.

Our team consists of our lawyers, legal executives and support staff, including director Alistair van Schalkwyk.

Luzette and Ada joined the team soon after their admission and have been working together since 2015.

Chris and Nadia Dykes joined ASCO Legal in the later part of 2021 having moved here from South Africa and are qualified to practice in New Zealand. They are duly qualified South African lawyers and practiced law for many years in South Africa and are now also admitted as lawyers here in New Zealand.

Our registered legal executives are Donna Handley and Kylie Osborne. Kylie is a true Kiwi and Donna originally lived and worked in England and has an array of English law experience. Our team is assisted by Jo Crequer and Hannah Owens as our legal assistants, and Roxanne van Schalkwyk as our trust accountant.

A Brief History of ASCO Legal

ASCO Legal was founded around 15 years ago as a break away from a top tier Auckland firm and established itself as a small but dynamic law firm based in downtown Auckland.

With Miles as a former partner of two leading New Zealand law firms and with legal experience from practicing law in the United Kingdom, ASCO Legal enjoyed a strong direction and a wealth of legal knowledge from its inception. Miles is also a former chairman of the Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) and has an immense knowledge of commercial law - including franchising law. ASCO Legal still specialises in these areas and continues to be an active and proud member of FANZ and author of a major New Zealand source of franchising precedents which is used by lawyers nationwide. As the firm expanded, Miles and our director Alistair practiced together as partners of ASCO Legal for a number of years.

Since its inception, ASCO Legal has grown its expertise and networks in the commercial and property law areas and is now situated in the seaside village located in the heart of Howick in East Auckland.
